Fumigation in cleanrooms and controlled environments, the most commonly used solutions
are:
𝐇𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿 (𝗛𝗣𝗩)
Widely used due to its effectiveness in sterilizing surfaces and air.
𝐅𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗲
An older method, but still used in some cases, although it’s being phased out due to safety
concerns.
𝐂𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗱𝗲 (𝗖𝗹𝗢₂)
Gaining popularity for its effectiveness and relatively low toxicity compared to
formaldehyde.
𝐏𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗰𝗶𝗱
Often used in combination with hydrogen peroxide for fumigation.
𝐌𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝐭
A mixture of peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide, often used for fumigation in
pharmaceutical and biotech facilities. It’s diluted to a lower concentration, typically around
1% to 10%, for fogging or fumigation purposes.
𝐆𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲
Gramicid is a multi-component complex formulation of high concentration (48%) Hydrogen
Peroxide and Silver in cationic form. Gramicid effectively and completely destroys all
microorganisms including viruses, spores, gram positive & gram negative bacteria.
𝐑𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
30 ml of Gramicid after dilution in 970 ml of water has to be sprayed in 1500 sq. feet room
and keep it closed for 15-30 minute to make 100% sterile.
