A Contact Plate (or RODAC plate) is a small (55 mm) specialized agar dish with a raised, convex agar dome designed to directly test flat surfaces and personnel for microbial contamination.
Features
Convex Agar Dome: Sticks out above the rim to make direct contact with surfaces.
Neutralizers: Contains agents like Lecithin and Tween 80 to neutralize disinfectant residues on the sampled surface.
Grid Pattern: The bottom plate features grid lines for easy Colony Forming Unit (CFU) counting.
How to use
Press: Press the agar dome flat against the surface (bench, wall, gown, or glove) for 5–10 seconds.
Sanitize: Wipe the tested surface with 70% IPA to remove any left-behind agar residue.
Incubate: Cover, invert, and incubate to count CFUs per 25cm² area.
